David Torun

I'm a Senior Researcher in Economics and an SNSF Ambizione Fellow (PI) at the University of Zurich. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School (2024–25) and UC San Diego (2023–24). I'm also affiliated with CESifo, RFBerlin, and the University of St.Gallen, where I did my PhD. 

My research is supported by a generous SNSF Ambizione Career Grant and focuses on international trade, with current projects studying:

• the formation and stability of trade relationships

• the effectiveness of export bans

• the propagation of shocks through transportation networks

• globalization and innovation
